Lip Enhancement

Dermal Fillers are frequently used to enhance the lips by adding volume and plumping them up. These products replace tissue lost due to the natural ageing process. Restylane (Medicis) and Juvederm (Allergan) are sterile gels consisting of non-animal, cross-linked, hyaluronic acid (HA) and have the best safety profile of all the fillers currently on the market. Effects may last up to a year.

Benefits:

  • Add volume to thin lips

  • Create a pronounced cupids bow

  • Define the lip border to stop lipstick bleeding

  • Balance uneven lips

  • Reduce fine “smokers” lines

FAQs:

  • What are dermal fillers?

  • The use of Dermal Filler injections is considered the most advanced, effective solution for controlling pre-mature signs of ageing by enhancing lip appearance.  It is injected directly into the areas of concern, allowing the lip to immediately plump. In turn, this produces a natural, more youthful dewy glow.  The most current non-permanent fillers are created from stabilised hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate and add volume to your lips.

  • Am I a suitable candidate?

  • There are no known risks, even to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, it is our advice that you should wait until your circumstances have changed before seeking this treatment.

  • Does it hurt?

  • You may feel an initial sting but this is very brief due to the use of extremely fine needles.  It is also possible to make the procedure far less painful.  Your advanced and experienced aesthetic practitioner may numb the area using a topical anaesthetic cream* in order to minimise any discomfort. This is done approximately 20 minutes before beginning the treatment.

  • How long does this procedure take?

  • Lip enhancement treatment typically requires about 20-30 minutes. The area will be numbed by using a topical anaesthetic cream** before beginning your treatment. This cream minimises the sensation, rendering it significantly less painful.

**Anaesthetic: Anaesthetic cream can be applied about 20-30 minutes before your injections if needed.

  • What result can I expect to see?

  • The most impressive aspect of Dermal Filler is that the results are immediate and significant. They are low risk, and the likelihood of contractions or complications is almost unheard of. There is no downtime anticipated, and recovery is virtually instantaneous.  The patient can go about their normal day and maintain their lifestyle without being constricted in any way. Following injection, a patient might experience a slight redness, swelling and/or an itching, irritated and pain sensation in the injection site. We advise you not to expose your lips to either intense heat such as in a solarium, by sunbathing or to the extreme cold. You may find that if you have previously experienced facial cold sores, there is a slight risk that needle punctures could contribute to another eruption. We advise that using over-the-counter Zovirax (acyclovir) cream starting one day before your treatment can reduce the chances of this occurring. Following the initial treatment, most patients choose to a further treatment in 6-12 months. As each patient's body will metabolise the products uniquely, you can repeat the procedure as frequently as you like, depending on the desired effect and the degree of improvement realised. For instance, a top up treatment, using a smaller volume of the product, within 2-4 weeks of the initial injections may be required to achieve optimal results.

  • How quickly do I get results?

  • Results are visible immediately but will continue to develop over the next seven days to two weeks.

  • How long will it last?

  • Typical results are 6-12 months.
