Nd:YAG Laser Hair Removal XLase®

Laser hair removal is a procedure which uses an intense beam of light to medically remove unwanted hair growth on various parts of the body. The Nd: YAG Long Pulse method works safely and equally well for individuals of any complexion (including tanned) who wish to arrest or completely remove unwanted hair growth. Multiple treatments are typically needed to achieve long-lasting results, and hair growth becomes progressively more inhibited over an extended period. Maintenance treatments are recommended to ensure true permanence.

  • Is Nd:YAG Laser safe for dark skin?

  • In fact, the Long Pulse (Nd:YAG) Laser is the safest, most effective laser for darker skin types and is the go-to laser for any darker complexions such as Hispanic or Afro-Caribbean, Indian, or those with Asian skin, find that it works particularly well. However, it effectively works equally well for all skin types.

  • Is Nd:YAG laser hair removal painful?

  • All of our hair removal lasers are virtually pain-free methods and you are left with smooth silky-to-the-touch skin. It is to be expected that you will feel a light stinging sensation at the start of the treatment. This shows that the laser has been activated. The stinging is followed by a series of impulses which may cause a slight burning sensation as well as some prickling or tingling. Discomfort may be minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic or a cooling pack to the area being treated prior to treatment. The sensation has been described as being similar to that of an elastic band snapping against the skin, and most people do not require the anaesthetic.

  • Do laser hair removal procedures cause scarring?

  • Because any laser-based hair removal procedure can create a risk of scarring, this potential reaction is included in the consent forms you will need to sign before any laser treatment can be performed. You can be assured that the risk of scarring from this method is highly unlikely. The propensity to scarring involves many factors which include but is not limited to the following:

    • The laser technician's skill, experience, training and knowledge

    • Your body's natural ability to heal

    • The amount of pigmentation (melanin) in the skin

    • Darker-skinned individuals exhibit a higher risk

It must be stressed that the risk of scarring from a laser treatment is minimal and you can further reduce this likelihood by only                     working with an experienced laser technician. Additionally, the procedure can be supervised by an on-site physician.

  • Can laser hair removal procedures cause pigment changes?

  • It is true that a few individuals have observed some pigment changes subsequent to a laser treatment procedure that can be either a darkening or lightening of the skin. This is not to be confused with scarring as most of the time. Happily, such changes that happen after laser procedures typically are resolved within a few weeks or months.

  • Which areas can be treated?

  • Almost all areas can be treated with laser hair removal

  • When will I notice results?

  • Within days you will notice that the number of hairs growing in a treated area has been diminished following each treatment.

  • How many treatments will I need?

  • This will be assessed by your expert practitioner, however, an initial course of 6-9 sessions is usually recommended. During the consultation your hair growth pattern, type and density can be observed and more accurately determined.

  • How does it work?

  • With an emission of wavelengths of 1064 nm, the Nd: YAG applicator light penetrates into tissue, reaching its maximum depth, targets your hair follicles, and the process causes deliberate damage to the base of them. This, in turn, inhibits or completely disables the follicle's ability to produce new hair as rapidly as before treatment. The low absorption by other skin components guarantees that the surrounding tissue on all skin types is not damaged. It has been found to be especially effective on black skin.

Each person is unique therefore the exact price and duration of the treatments depend on many factors. The prices will and can only be properly determined by our qualified aestheticians during your free consultation. However, there is an estimated price table as below:
