Thread Veins & Vascular Lesions

Our skin progressively loses collagen and becomes thinner as a result of ageing, therefore when our veins expand, they appear to be larger and are more visible through the skin. While thread veins are inheritable, they are frequently the result of unprotected exposure to the sun throughout our lives, or other causes such as pregnancy, rosacea, alcohol, smoking and extended periods on our feet. Extremely common in both men and women, thread veins can be unsightly and be the cause of embarrassment in some individuals.

  • What is Thread Veins & Vascular Lesions removal?

  • Due to the ageing process, small, broken veins can begin to appear on both the body and the face. Estimates show that more than 25% of adult females presently experience some form of vein problems. Commonly known as "thread veins" or "spider veins,” these can be removed with laser or/and light energy. A primary concern for many clients is that of a loss of confidence in appearance due to the presence of thread veins. Removal of thread veins can free a client to again enjoy wearing clothing of choice such as shorts, skirts or swimwear, without feeling self-conscious about little broken, coloured veins. It can make a dramatic difference. There are several options available for Thread Veins & Vascular Lesions treatment. Our clinic offers laser, IPL, and Electrodesiccation.

  • How does Thread Veins & Vascular Lesions removal with IPL & Laser work?

  • When laser light is directed towards unsightly veins, the tissue heats up very quickly, breaks down and then collapses inwards upon itself. This process is called photothermolysis. The state-of-the-art lasers in our clinic remove only the undesired red veins and without affecting the surrounding skin, leaving the previously affected area healthy and vein-free.

  • What is the advantage of Thread Veins & Vascular Lesions removal with laser?

  • The surrounding skin is not affected because a laser is set to a selective absorption of controlled wavelength. The laser only targets the blood vessels (veins). In this way, the walls of the veins can collapse where they are gradually absorbed by the body without causing any damage whatsoever to the skin or surrounding tissue.

  • What does treatment feel like?

  • Most clients state that there is virtually no discomfort at all, some report a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulse targets a vein.

  • How many treatments will I need?

  • We find that it is possible to achieve a major improvement for many of our clients with no more than one to six treatments. Of course, there is always the possibility that new spider veins might appear. Therefore, further sessions might be required.

  • What are the results like?

  • Sometimes the vein merely shrinks rather than being destroyed when it collapses. When this happens, it can revive or return even though it has become invisible for a while. Because the vein has not been obliterated, the treatment is referred to as semi-permanent.

  • Is the treatment safe?

  • Our experience shows that facial thread vein removal is completely safe, highly effective and straightforward; a client can happily expect to be rid of embarrassing red veins around the mouth, nose and cheeks.

  • I have thread veins, and I blush very easily. Is it mild Rosacea?

  • Rosacea symptoms include facial redness across the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead, visibly damaged blood vessels and small red inflammatory pustules. Although Rosacea is not a life- threatening condition, it does affect the appearance and can be very upsetting as it can make a person look flustered or embarrassed. Found mostly in middle-aged women, Rosacea tends to affect fair-skinned people of Anglo-Saxon and Celtic backgrounds. Temporary flushing, especially after a hot drink, consumption of spicy food or when walking into an overheated room are notable early symptoms. Drinking red wine and beverages with caffeine in them, as well as environment issues such as sudden exposure to heat, sunlight, the wind and other temperature extremes can be factors in Rosacea.
